Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Luchak, southeastern slope of the Baysuntau, Southwest Gissar. Kh.Kh.Mirkamalov, 1971 (51, p.83). Stratotype at the pass of Zahana, to the west of the village of Derbent. It is included in the Luchak horizon (55; 383; 446; 452). Upper formation in Kamprek Gr. The term is not used.

Synonym: Luchak Suite, Лучакская св., Babatag Fm (along the Babatag ridge; renamed (assigned?) to Luchak Fm by Y.N. Andreyev". Str. sl. (446).


Lithology and Thickness

At the bottom - clays, shell limestones, marls (15-60m); in the middle part - gray, red clays, with layers of limestones (15-25m); at the top - alternation of limestones, gray, brown clays (10-30m). On the northeast of Southwest Gissar, the Luchak Fm is limestones with layers of gray and cherry-red clays (65-70m).


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Along the bedding, it lies conformably on the Kallamazar Fm, in some places unconformably on the Mingbatman Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain conformably by the Akkaptchigay Fm.

Regional extent

Southwest, South Gissar, Babatag ridge, Bukhara-Karshinsky region.

Fossils

The suite contains ammonites - Hoplites cf. baylei Spath., H. dentatus Sow., Epihoplites trapezoides Lupp.; marine bivalve mollusks - Exogyга localis subtypica Mordv., E. alaeformis Mirk.; foraminifers - Gaudryinopsis oblongus (Zasp.), Dorothia exilis N.Byk.; ostracods - Oncocytheridea socialis Andrv. et Mand., O. daganakiikensis Andrv.
